Amber Keep Art
Amber Keep Art is a small shop of artists that work anywhere from full-time to part-time. We got started when my nephew wanted some art from „The Legend of Zelda“. I produced a very large 3-D picture for him. Other people saw it and I started selling them. The 3-D art is interesting for many reasons. The art is entire make of paper (and adhesive and spaces); it is made from heavy weight (100 pound) fade resist paper. It is made from many copies of our original art… either pencil, pen/ink, water color paints, oil paints, or tempra paints. Because it is made from reproductions of the original, I can sell it much more inexpensively than the originals (some of which are quite large and expensive). Also, it comes matted and framed, so it is ready to hang.
The artist who created the Kirby Art is a new, part-time artist. She loves video game characters and thought Kirby would look great as a colored pencil on grey tag-board picture. We reproduced her picture on 80-pound paper. We then cut apart several copies and put it back together using spaces and adhesive. We cut a matt for the picture and build the picture right on the matt. Then the entire 3-D art is framed in a shadowbox.
Our artist, whose name is Madison, created the original over the course of an afternoon. It takes us a few hours to get the reproductions done, cut apart the duplicated pictures, cut the matt board, assemble, and frame the art. Some of the 3-D pictures take much longer to create. Our „Northern Barbarian“ picture is based on the Dragon Born from Skyrim; that picture took several weeks to create the pen/ink stippling and many hours to create the 3-D rendering. We draw and paint what we find interesting. As new games or animals appeal to us, we create them.
